before every season we host open auditions for current and future JSU students. A $20 registration fee, individual choreography submission, interview, and choreography demonstration are required for membership consideration. At the conclusion of the submission period each applicant is evaluated on the material attained during this process and will be interviewed by our judges. all applicants selected for membership must Secure housing either on campus or in the Jackson metro area to attend our mandatory pre-season camp in early august.

auditions can be virtual or in-person . during the registration period applicants will

What is the attire for clinic/auditions?
Dance attire (leotard, unitard, dance tights, dance shoes, etc) and athletic attire are required and must be modest in nature.
Jeans, dress slacks, hard soled shoes, crocs, khakis, or any clothing that will prevent the full range of body movement is prohibited.
For auditions, applicants are asked to wear all black.
I don’t live in the Jackson area / near Jackson State and will not be able to attend the clinic, can I audition online?

Is there a fee for the clinic?
Yes. Each new applicant is required to pay a registration fee.
renewal applicants, those who have completed a full season prior, do not pay the registration fee for the spring audition.

Make-up is not a requirement as we audition men and women. However we expect you to look your best and present your best self.
May I audition if I have tattoos or piercings?
Yes, you may audition if you have tattoos or piercings. Our policy promotes individuality and self-expression. While we do perform in uniform for some events, we only require that tattoos and piercings are not excessive as to distract from the performance.
Can I have my score sheets after auditions?
No. However individual score sheets will be kept on file and applicants can review them with an advisor, but applicants are not allowed to obtain a copy.
Are there certain dance moves I must be able to do to audition?
All of the material you need to audition will be provided after registration. Applicants will need to submit 3 of 9 pre-selected dance agility moves, and submit an individual dance lasting up to 1 minute and 30 seconds.
Must my individual dance be a certain style of dance?
No. But we do not recommend dances of the majorette style. We primarily do Jazz, Hip-Hop, and Lyrical/Modern. For examples of our dance styles please go to our YouTube page.
Do you have manager positions?
Yes. Anyone interested in becoming a manger for the season should also register for more information. Those selected will be eligible for Campus service hours and attend pre-season camp.
